365 NIGHTS A Memoir of Intimacy By Charla Muller John Blake Publishing £11.99 “When I offered my husband sex every day for a year to celebrate his 40th birthday he literally fell over. He was so taken by surprise that he actually stumbled and landed legs akimbo, in his leather chair …” In 365 NIGHTS Charla Muller explains how this unusual gift worked out and how it affected her marriage Stumped by what to give her husband for his 40th birthday Charla Muller came up with the highly original idea of the offer of sex for 365 consecutive days. Confident this was a present he would never forget she also wanted to re-establish the intimacy that had got lost after two children and eight years of marriage. “This idea met all the criteria for a great gift – unexpected, thoughtful, memorable, cost-effective and especially well-suited for the receiver”. This is diary based and often discusses other subjects, after all describing that you had sex and how can get boring, so it quickly becoems a background issue and we begin to find out more about the family and the respective backgrounds of the spouses. The sex aspect very quickly disappears into the background, which is just as well, otherwise it would be a bit pervy. Thankfully the background, or should we say foreground of the family is quoite interesting and it is no problem with this taking centre stage. We do get some insights into her views on marraige and this is really aimed at women who want to discuss rather than describe. men will struggle with this because it does meander this way and that, and they might expect something a little more X rated. Perhaps the cover is a bit of a come on and it should really have a title based on the content, though this would of course impacr upon the sales.
