Stephanie Plum is a bounty hunter in the States and there are a number of books about her exploits, a bakers dozen so far. This is a novella that fits in between the main stories, but still has plenty of punch.

Even if you haven't read any of the books before, Evanovich manages to put in a fair bit of background in the opening pages - enough to make you want to read the other novels, but not enough to deter you from plunging into the deep end with this one.

The main plot has Stephanie trying to track down her older relative, Grandma Mazur who she finds holed up in a casino in Atlantic City. Other colouful characters such as a gangster boss, an injured racehorse and plenty of romantic complications soon arise. How this can all be squeezed into a novella is a miracle but Evanovich manages to give us plenty of scope and make us look forward to the next full blown novel.
